San Antonio's 281 Superstreet is the first of its kind in Texas. A couple more are being considered. Quite honestly, I was a skeptic because the description did not sound like it would solve the traffic problems. That was important to me since I live in the immediate area and in the last 6 years have seen traffic go from bad, to worse, to impossible,
Ask me now - and I am a HUGE fan of our new 281 Superstreet. I drive it and I like it. As I understand it, in January 2011 the experts are conducting studies to validate the level of improvements - more on that when available.
The 281 Superstreet is not considered the final solution. Locally, there have been many battles over the best way to resolve the traffic nightmare. One proposal is a toll road - something quite foreign to San Antonio and something that brings with it many more questions. Scroll down to see a video on what a toll road may look like.
There are some animation videos demonstrating how a Superstreet works on 281 and at a couple of the intersections along the path.
